I lived in Lahr from 1980-84. I attended Lahr Senior, DJ'd at the Canadian Forces Network as the "nerdy" Dr. Love, and made friends I will never forget (one of them is my brother-in-law).
AFTER 16 years, I finally returned to Lahr accompanied by my parents. Our German landlords (and still friends) were waiting for us. We were excited to see old friends, however, we had heard so much about how Lahr had changed for the worse that we were ready for the disappointment ! Well, our return to Lahr became a wonderful trip down memory lane. Our friends were wonderful, the food superb and Lahr and its surrounding area remains beautiful. Yes, the Kaserne, curling club, school and base are gone; but, the town is still the Lahr I remembered, with a few enhancements and many eastern Europeans. The MarketStrasse, Stork Tower, Area 31 and other "famous" landmarks remain.
